| Guiding Principles | | Print | |
Prosperity Initiative is establishing itself as a new organisation. We work with others who share the vision of the power of markets to reduce poverty. The following principles guide our thinking and actions:We are people and relationship focused. Change happens through the action of change leaders from communities, the private sector and government. We look to build action around these people and organisations. We believe important change is incremental. We understand that lasting large-scale market based poverty reduction will not be achieved overnight and will face ups and downs. Part of our mission is to shift development agendas away from a short-term outlook and the false economy of looking for 'quick wins'. We are market oriented. We respond to market realities. To support others, we must have a pragmatic, opportunistic and informed risk taking approach to all facets of our work from practice development to programme delivery and organisation building. We are evidence based and performance oriented. We will justify our strategic programming decisions by an evidence-based case for poverty reduction potential and account for our resources based on the poverty reduction achieved to date and the system change which will secure poverty reduction in the longer run. |
